Brenna: What new collections and/or featured composers will our License Holders be searching for this fall?
Steve: We have two new author’s collections that were introduced at the Hymn Society this past summer.
Prayer Rising into Song contains 50 new and revised hymns by Carl Daw.
Onward! is a new collection of hymns & psalms based on texts written by Brian Wren.
Both collections contain hymns useful throughout the church year.
Brenna: What denominations or groups look to Hope for music? Are there ecumenical options for interfaith communities?
Steve: We have been a nondenominational publisher serving primarily the mainline Protestant church since our founding in 1892. Over the past generation the world of hymnody has blended and globalized. We now find our hymns sung by churches of many Christian backgrounds and in many countries around the world.
Brenna: Looking forward to the upcoming liturgical year, are there any must-have titles to include on our worklists?
Steve: We introduced the Hope Liturgical Calendar (http://hopepublishing.com/liturgicalcalendar) last year after receiving many requests from customers. The calendar offers users a simple way to search for Hope titles based on the Common Lectionary as well as special seasonal days such as Thanksgiving and Mother’s Day. In addition to searching for hymns, we also have an extensive listing of choral anthems and handbell pieces to choose from.
Brenna: What can our users look forward to from Hope in the coming months?
Steve: We continually add new titles to Hope Hymnody Online. This is a free service to OneLicense.net users. It is a great way to search for hymns and download .pdfs for use in church bulletins, etc. All we ask is that people report their usage to OneLicense.net. If you have not tried the tool, please check it out here: http://www.hopepublishing.com/hymnody
