K: Those are all wonderful titles. The First Song of Isaiah is a personal favorite of mine, so I’m pleased you included that one! We know you have an exciting new division at Jubilate Music Group – Hymns Now. Can you tell us more about that new division?

M: Hymns Now was born out of a response from church music directors looking for fresh new hymns. Hymns Now offers exciting, inspired, and inspiring traditional new hymns for all year long and special occasions from leading composers and authors such as Mark Blankenship, Terry York, David Schwoebel, Mary Kay Beall, Benjamin Harlan, Tina English, and more. Some of the hymns feature existing texts or classic tunes from writers such as Fred Pratt Green. Each online purchase at hymnsnow.com includes usage privileges, provided your church or organization has active ONE LICENSE permissions. New hymns will be added quarterly, so visit hymnsnow.com to preview these new hymns. Veteran composer, arranger, and music publishing executive Mark Blankenship serves as the Executive Director for Hymns Now.

A note for our License Holders: Curious how to creatively utilize your current license permissions with Hymns Now to further enhance your music ministry? Reach out to our team for additional information and guidance.

K: What other new initiatives, collections or favorite pieces should our License Holders be looking forward to this Advent and Christmas? How about Lent or the Easter season?

M: For Fall, Advent, and Christmas 2024, Jubilate Music Group has a full slate of new publications for choir, piano, organ, handbell, solo vocal, and instrumental. JMG’s newest adult Christmas cantata, Love Is Born is by bestselling composer Lloyd Larson.  Other contributors to this new release include Mark Hayes, Mary McDonald, Allen Pote, Joseph M. Martin, Howard Helvey, Hal H. Hopson, Ken Medema, Jay Rouse, and more. For Spring, Lent, and Easter 2025, Mary McDonald has penned a moving new 30-minute choral work for Holy Week titled Calvary’s Lamb. Other contributors to these new releases encompassing choral, handbell, keyboard, and vocal options include Lloyd Larson, Benjamin Harlan, Sondra K. Tucker, John Purifoy, Stan Pethel, Joseph M. Martin, and more.

K: What areas of ministry can be supported by your music? What denominations or groups look to you for music? Are there ecumenical options for interfaith communities?

M: We primarily serve the mainline Protestant church, but also musically traditional evangelical churches. Many of our textually Old Testament driven anthems have been embraced by Jewish synagogues, and many of our secular pieces (such as the bestselling Tribute to the Armed Services anthem) appeal to Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, and Unitarian-Universalist organizations.

K: What can our License Holders look forward to from you in the year to come? What other projects would you like us to know about?

M: Jubilate Music Group has been invited by concert producer True North Presents to host an evening at Carnegie Hall on July 12, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. This is Jubilate’s second appearance as the host of an evening at Carnegie Hall (the first was in July, 2022).  Part One of the evening is the music of Mark Hayes, under the direction of Mark Hayes. Part Two of the evening is the world premiere of a new “in concert” musical titled Amazing Grace: From Blind to Free written and conducted by Lloyd Larson. This new work tells the moving story of John Newton and the transformation that led to him pen the words to the immortal hymn, Amazing Grace. Choral singers are encouraged to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Non-singer “behind the scenes” packages with concert tickets are also available. For more information, visit truenorthpresents.com/grace.

K: Anything else you would like to share with us?

M: Jubilate Music Group is grateful and proud to be a Member Publisher with ONE LICENSE. We fully support the amazing work done by ONE LICENSE in helping churches and schools spread the transforming power of music legally and in support of creators and publishers of music…thus assuring the creation of new music for generations to come.
