ONE LICENSE is an online licensing service committed to making it easy to obtain reprint permissions for congregational music. From Annual, Event, and Single-Use Reprint Licenses to Practice Track and Podcast/Streaming Licenses, we have a license that will meet your congregational music reprint needs.
HOW MANY CONGREGATIONS WILL BE SERVED?
The joining of LicenSingOnline and OneLicense.net means the new ONE LICENSE will initially serve more than 19,000 communities primarily in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and other English-speaking countries around the world. We expect the number of churches and other communities to grow in the coming years.
WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST CHANGES FOR CONGREGATIONS?
Congregations will now be able to access most, if not all, of their music on a single, online platform: ONE LICENSE. We are optimistic that this news will be extremely well received. Our goal is to make the transition to the new ONE LICENSE as seamless as possible for you.
WHAT HAPPENS TO CONGREGATIONS WITH A LICENSE FROM JUST ONE OF OUR COMPANIES?
As of January 1, 2017, these congregations will immediately have access to all the music currently represented by both LicenSingOnline and OneLicense.net until their current license expires. Beginning January 1st, LicenSingOnline license holders will go to OneLicense.net to access their account, download assembly versions of music, report song usage, and renew and purchase licenses.
WHAT HAPPENS TO CONGREGATIONS THAT HAVE BOTH LICENSES?
Congregations that have both licenses will now, of course, only need a single license. As a result, the new ONE LICENSE will honor the latest expiration date of the congregation’s current two licenses. This will ensure that each community receives the full value of the licenses they currently own. As of January 1, 2017, congregations that have both licenses will immediately receive the benefit of reporting song usage in just one place: ONE LICENSE. Starting January 1, you can view the expiration date and other information about your license by visiting OneLicense.net, logging in, and clicking the My Account link.
WILL THE COST OF THE LICENSE CHANGE?
The new ONE LICENSE offers a new and improved online experience, a larger, more useful music catalog, improved license offerings, and easier song usage reporting. For these reasons, we do expect to increase the price of our licenses. Rest assured that pricing will be competitive with other music licensing services.
HOW ARE YOU CHANGING THE PRACTICE-TRACK LICENSE?
Our new Practice-Track License will launch at the end of January 2017. Our Practice-Track License will be simplified, establishing a single annual fee based on congregation size. The license will cover sharing of masters or personally recorded tracks for the purpose of rehearsing for a service. We will no longer use a credit system for practice tracks, significantly streamlining the administration of this license from the perspective of a congregation.
WILL THE REPORTING PROCESS CHANGE?
Accuracy in reporting is extremely important. As a result, our license will continue to require churches to report 100% of the music they use under our license. As a consequence of our merger, we are taking the best elements of both existing services. We will be maintaining the song data accuracy that has been a hallmark of OneLicense.net and LicenSingOnline. One of the primary changes in usage reporting is that we will be asking license holders to report the frequency each song is used each week, for those churches that have more than one service. But to make reporting simple, and because much of the music in a week is the same at each service, we will include a default number of services in the reporting field that will automatically populate from a field in your user profile.
HOW ARE YOU PLANNING TO GROW?
The merger of LicenSingOnline and OneLicense.net means we can offer churches a single license option that covers the broadest range of music they need for their services, celebrations, and events. We plan to grow by offering the best, most comprehensive music catalog for Catholic and mainline Protestant churches at a competitive price and a website that makes administration of a church’s music reprint license needs easier and faster.
