ONE LICENSE unveils a new Limited Podcast/Streaming License

Chicago, Illinois, April 13, 2020—OneLicense, LLC is thrilled to launch, beginning Thursday, April 16, 2020,  a new Limited Podcasting / Streaming License, perfect for those who pre-record self-made content or live stream services over the internet. The Limited Podcast / Streaming License has been our most highly requested feature, and we are proud to now provide this service globally. Communities with this new license may stream as many services as they like containing covered songs from our participating Member Publishers for one year.

This new option follows ONE LICENSE’s unprecedented decision, in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, to provide its gratis licenses for a five-week period through Easter Sunday. Member Publishers, composers, and artists partnered with ONE LICENSE to offer gratis options to congregations beginning in mid-March. During that period, more than 6,000 organizations either joined ONE LICENSE for the first time or upgraded their Annual License to include podcast / streaming permissions.

The new Limited Podcast / Streaming License provides the right to podcast or stream more than 80,000 songs from over 300 Member Publishers and their divisions. The Podcast / Streaming License permits both pre-recorded self-made content and self-made content that is streamed live. Content may be posted to your organization’s website, YouTube, Facebook, Zoom, Vimeo, Instagram, and other forms of internet-based communication. (Note that the use of commercial masters is not covered under any of our licenses and must be sought out directly from the owner of the master recording.)

This affordable option is designed for churches with no need to provide a custom worship aid or to access, project, or display lyrics in their videos. Communities who wish to have these features may bundle a ONE LICENSE Annual License with a Podcast / Streaming License with the latter at a discounted cost.

The Limited Podcast / Streaming License is priced similarly to the Annual License, allowing congregations during this time of social distancing to transition easily between either of these two license types. It also honors our many organizations who use only hymnal or missalette resources and have no need for the reprint portion of the license. Many thanks to our IT and creative teams for their time and talent in making this offering available.

Whether you plan to support your community via the internet in a time of social distancing, provide music for congregants in your sanctuary, or both, know that at ONE LICENSE we are committed to serving your needs. Income from our licenses provides critical financial support to the composers and publishers who create the music we need—music that is more necessary now than ever before.
